Literature. Michael Collins

Collins was born in Ireland and moved to Indiana (USA) in 1981 with a sports scholarship. He then studied at Oxford and went back to the United States to work in a “very white and very priviliged society”, where the “American dream” was fading away. With a style that owns to the Irish literary tradition and with influences from the literature that portraited the dustbowl towns left by the crisis of 1929, Collins’ novels speak of the decline of the American Midwest. Many of his thoughts about life in the Midwest come from not feeling comfortable inside that very same culture.
